December 1, 2020

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has released an exciting game, titled the “Elections Hotseat’, to provide relevant information to Ghanaians on the country’s electoral processes.

As Ghana prepares to go to the polls on 7th December 2020, the timely initiative is to educate the public on the electoral processes to contribute to a peaceful election.

The game has electoral rules, sanctions, and observations woven into it to enable players increase their knowledge and commitment to peaceful elections as they play. It has intense and immerse gameplay that dares players to prove their knowledge on a topic and play for higher points.

Players can choose from four topics including voter registration; campaign and anti-vigilantism; voting; and general theme.  Each category provides questions on electoral issues in Ghana and gives players answers to choose from.

The web-based application is playable on desktop and mobile devices (Android and iOS), including tablets.

The game falls under activities of the UNDP and CDD-led Multi Stakeholder Consultative Platform on Peace and Governance, with members including the National Peace Council, Ghana National Development Planning Commission, Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition and Ghana Center for Democratic Development.
