The National Peace Council is widely regarded as one of the innovative institutions of Ghana’s democratic architecture. It has an ambitious and important mission: “to facilitate the development of mechanisms of cooperation among all stakeholders who work towards peace in Ghana; [to promote] a cooperative resolution of problems or conflicts by institutionalizing conflict resolution which will lead to the transformation of social and political conflicts, as well as to religious reconciliation and dialogue.”

A new hip-hop music video, entitled “Sustainable Development Goals: Improve Life All Around The Globe", was launched by the United Nations on 13 June 2016 to mark the 100 day countdown to the International Day of Peace. The video was produced by Flocabulary in partnership with the Education Outreach Section of the Outreach Division of the United Nations Department of Public Information. The video aims to teach young people throughout the world about the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals and how they can help build peace. It is available in all six United Nations official languages.

The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC), through its former Chairman, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan, requested UNDP to, among other activities, support the Commission to conduct an independent comprehensive needs assessment of the election administration function of the EC. The results of the assessment, the EC envisaged, would be used to inform the development of a new strategic plan for the Commission.
UNDP Climate Change Storytelling Contest: Oxfam supports journalists’ participation with additional fellowships

Oxfam will support the Voice2Paris global storytelling contest launched in August by the United National Development Programme (UNDP) by providing three additional fellowships for participating journalists to cover the UN Conference on Climate Change, COP21, in Paris in December. Oxfam’s contribution to the contest aims at encouraging journalists’ participation in climate change reporting and raising public awareness of climate actions.
Ghana joins Philanthropy Platform to foster sustainable development
