    Africa needs a new, inclusive and people-centred development model - Mr. Abdoulie Mar Dieye

    Director for UNDP Regional Bureau for Africa, Mr. Abdoulie Mar Dieye, has said, “Africa needs a new, inclusive development model that places the wellbeing of the people at the centre of economic growth and development”. This was contained in a goodwill message read on his behalf by Mr. Lebogang Motlana, Director of UNDP Regional Services Centre during the recent Pan-African Conference on “Inequalities in the Context of Structural Transformation” which took place in Accra from April 28-30, 2014.

    Pan-African Conference on Inequalities

    The Government of Ghana acting through the National Development Planning Commission(NDPC) in collaboration with various partners including the United Nations Development Programme, UN Millennium Campaign, Society for International Development and Third World Network-Africa, is hosting a three-day high-level, multi-stakeholder African conference on inequalities from 28th- 30th April, 2014 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). The theme of the conference is “Pan-African Conference on Inequalities in the Context of Structural Transformation”.

    UNDP's support to bamboo bike development yields results in Ghana

    The Ghana Bamboo Bike Initiative has presented a bamboo bicycle to Ms. Ruby Sandhu-Rojon, the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Ghana, during a brief ceremony at the UNDP office premises in Ghana. The bicycles have been produced through the UNDP Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme as an innovative means to combat climate change.

    Wechiau women receive livelihood support
