Ghana Country Note: African Economic Outlook 2017

July 5, 2017

This Ghana Country Note is extracted from the 2017 African Economic Outlook (AEO), an annual publication of the African Development Bank in conjunction with the OECD Development Centre and the United Nations Development Programme. The 2017 AEO was based on the theme, “Entrepreneurship and Industrialization”.

According to the 2017 outlook, Ghana’s economy is projected to recover to 7.1% in 2017 and grow to 8.0% in 2018 assuming restoration of energy supply, new hydrocarbon wells coming on stream and the timely resolution of technical issues that led to disruptions in the Jubilee oil and gas field in 2016. The growth is expected to be stronger if macroeconomic fundamentals improve, and impact positively on the non-oil economy.
