More importantly, the study focuses on explaining the consumption expenditure gap between the North and South by examining the contributing household and community level factors to inequality within North and within South.

    The 2015 Ghana MDGs Report assesses Ghana’s progress as of 2014. Out of the 21 targets and 60 official indicators adopted globally for monitoring the MDGs, Ghana has, however, adopted a more nationally relevant set of 17 targets and 36 indicators.

    The purpose of the Millennium Development Goals Acceleration Framework (MAF) is to redouble efforts to overcome bottlenecks in implementing interventions that have proven to have worked in reducing the maternal mortality ratio in Ghana. The MAF focuses on improving maternal health at the level of both community and health care facilities through the use of evidence-based, feasible and cost-effective interventions in order to achieve accelerated reduction in maternal and newborn deaths.

    The main objective of this report is to “unmask” the issues behind the averages of 2010 Ghana MDG report and examine the country’s progress beyond the national level. It focuses on geographical disparities and gender dimension of selected MDGs and their corresponding targets. It also suggests some recommendations for addressing emerging equity issues and if possible, identify the necessary partnership and synergies that could be formed between government and development partners in addressing emerging concerns.
